
Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed Lonnie Walker IV.
Walker IV joins the 76ers after a 33-game stint (23 starts) with Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League and the EuroLeague in which he averaged 13.5 points on 40.0-percent shooting from three-point range, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He reached the 20-point mark five times and connected on at least three triples on 13 occasions this season.
A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Walker IV has averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 322 games across six NBA seasons with San Antonio, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn. He was originally selected by the Spurs with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
His professional career followed one collegiate season at Miami (FL), where he averaged a team-best 11.5 points per game and 2.6 rebounds en route to an ACC All-Freshman Team selection. The Hurricanes compiled a 22-10 record and earned a No. 6 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament as Walker appeared in 32 games, making 18 starts. Prior to Miami, he was named a 2017 McDonald’s All-American and voted Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball following his career at Reading Senior High School.
Walker IV will wear No. 16 for the 76ers.
