Mike Gambino’s first year in Happy Valley was an unequivocal success. The Nittany Lions went 29-24 in 2024, their first winning season since 2016 and the 29 victories set a new high mark in the program for a first-year head coach.
Moreover, Penn State qualified for the Big Ten Tournament as the eight-seed and made a deep run before falling 2-1 against Nebraska in front of 13,000 – mostly Cornhusker fans – at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
